The users want to explore the content of an article, and
especially information graphic when they could not read the whole article
paragraphs. It does not help the audience understand the story meanwhile make
the story become boring and the audience will skip that article. Therefore, an information graphic has to be
designed with condensed and multi-layer design which must always show the content
of the article. It is not necessary to style the most information graphic, the
importance is the content. If an information graphic is only designed with
special colors, shapes that are not related to what the audience want to read
and explore. So let yield the style piece for the content instead. Inputting
multilayer of content which make sense the user help the info graphic more
interested. The multilayer of content here is not all the contents in the
article, it just the general contents. The multilayer of general content will
make the audience curious to explore the rest content of the story. And there
are different kinds of readers, and certain thing is they are not dumb to read
a complicated info graphic.
After reading this chapter, I think a well-designed info
graphic is including 90 percent of content and the rest are for styling. What
do reader want when they reading a long article? The data and content. How can
they consume the long time for a long story instead of observe one piece of
info graphic? People in psychology, they don’t read, they just skim. Therefore,
a well-designed info graphic help the audience in this problem. It attracts
them and convinces them well.
In profile 4, page 274, Hannah Fairfield told that to the
complex assignment on the labor market trend, she said “the team may also
reduce the amount of small graphics done every day, in order to focus on the
big pieces.” This is similar to what the author mentioned in chapter 4 that the
other styles that are not appropriated will not be used. What we need is using
elements that fully support the infographic well in order to satisfy the
readers.
I’m interesting in the pages that show the steps how shorts
guy can dunk in basketball. In the hard copy, the brief text of each figurative
graphic reflects very well without confusing. More than that, the online
version is very impressive that only show one step in full graphic while other
steps are darkened. This makes more sense and easy to understand the story with
the note beneath the graphic.

the graphic shows only few graphic elements like few shapes, pictures and simple colors but effective.
it's easy to understand the revelant between blog and beer. And also the different between kinds of beer.
the article shows us that there are 22 ways to create an effective information graphic. the important thing showed in this article is finding the clue, story behind the project (ex.author), and comparision analysis during the project. therefore, the designer can brainstorm more creative idea for his/her project.
